A massive congratulations to Anna Mannion from Tri Moon Films, who picked up the top prize in the inaugural pitch contest for women producers at this year’s Venice Film Festival.

The pitch contest established by Netflix and the European Producers Club with backing from Netflix’s Fund for Creative Equity aims to create new opportunities for European women producers. Launched at Series Mania in March 2022, it was open to European Producers Club members working for women-owned companies. Six finalists were selected by an independent jury and were given the chance to pitch their project to Netflix’s content team. Anna won the first prize and will receive €50,000 funding towards developing her project.

Speaking on her win, Anna said:

“I am very honoured to have won this prize from Netflix and European Producers Club. This competition has provided a great platform to showcase the excellent work being done by women producers across Europe.”

Anna’s winning project was developed as part of the Advanced Producing Programme, a Springboard+ funded postgraduate diploma designed by Screen Ireland and Technological University Dublin aimed at emerging producers. In 2021, she received Screen Ireland Bursary Awards funding to participate in the Erich Pommer Institut’s Series’ Women programme. Through this career enhancement programme for women producers, she received 1-on-1 mentoring support and had the opportunity to attend Series Mania, where her project was showcased as part of the festival’s schedule. Subsequently, Anna became a member of the European Producers Club, a partner of the Erich Pommer Institut and applied for the pitch contest.

This year, Screen Ireland is delighted to offer a scholarship for the Series’ Women programme in partnership with the Erich Pommer Institut. To find out more or to apply, please visit: Screen Ireland Scholarship: Series’ Women, Erich Pommer Institut | Screen Ireland
