Castle Market Street (Sráid Mhargaidh an Chaisleáin)
Redeveloped in the early 1880s as part of the Victorian South City Markets development, Castle Market Street was the original location for the market that was later moved to the building now known as the George’s Street Arcade. The blocks of shops that line Castle Market Street today are similarly detailed to the market hall to the west, enlivened by terracotta-tiled gables and gable-topped brick piers, providing a sense of functional unity with the George’s Street Arcade and Drury Street.
